But workers News 9 has spoken with during the protests said they have been rallying during their off hours and working their shifts. Some have said they're worried about getting fired.
While the board of directors considers Arthur T. Demoulas' bid to buy the company, it has asked employees to get back to work. But employees said they won't budge until the former CEO is back in charge.

"I really believe that in the long run, they are going to see that this is the right way to go, and they will sell out," said employee Donald Lynch.
"The real issue that comes up is whether or not they are trying to block access to the store or force the company out of business," Reidy said. "That may not be protected."
In the meantime, workers said they are staying positive and taking one day at a time.

"These are loyal employees that are talking about their allegiance to and their belief that a certain person in management would be better for them," Reidy said.
"Generally speaking, it's protected when it's talking about terms and conditions, wages, benefits and so on," he said.
"Work time is for work, and if they want to be out before their shift or after their shift or on a break, they have to understand that they have to abide by company rules with regards to attendance," he said.
There is no word on when the board might come to a decision on the bid to buy out the company.
The statement Wednesday said the workers can return without penalty. It also said the company will begin seeking replacements for those who don't.
Even though business at the stores has slowed, Reidy said employees need to careful about when they protest to avoid any legal action.
Labor and employment lawyer James Reidy, of Sheehan, Phinney, Bass and Green, said that as long as employees keep fighting for better working conditions for the company as a whole, their actions are protected.

Reidy said Market Basket employees are not part of a union, but their actions are protected under the National Labor Relations Act.
