A Saskatoon judge couldn't justify labelling a severely mentally ill woman as a dangerous offender, sentencing Marlene Carter to two more years in custody.

Forty three year old Carter appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday via closed circuit television. Carter is currently serving time in a cell at the Regional Psychiatric Centre (RPC) in Saskatoon where she spends 23 hours a day in solitary confinement strapped to a bed.
